Soul Tours Amsterdam takes you where the soul of the city lives, Amsterdam Zuidoost. Or as we call it; the Bijlmer. This is the most vibrant and misunderstood part of Amsterdam. It’s where Dutch hip hop artists were born, where poetry met protest, where cultures blended into something uniquely powerful.
We don’t do picture-perfect postcards. We do real stories, real people, real places. From the sounds of Flinke Namen, Ray Fuego, Dret & Krulle and more, to Caribbean and African kitchens, Surinamese rhythms and Afro-Dutch activism — the Bijlmer is raw, layered and alive.
Founded by a Bijlmer-raised storyteller, SoulTours is about reclaiming history and showing the world a side of Amsterdam that rarely makes it to the guidebooks. We walk. We talk. We vibe.

Tuesday May 5th | Anton de Komplein | Free entry Every year on Liberation Day, the Anton de Komplein turns into something worth seeing. Local artists, a freedom market run by Zuidoost entrepreneurs, live music, workshops, and food — all in the open air. It's the kind of celebration that belongs to the neighbourhood rather than the city centre. More info at amsterdam.nl
Saturday May 16th | Bijlmerpark
Five kilometres, ten kilometres or a half marathon through the streets of Zuidoost. The Bijlmer Run started small and has grown into one of the most community-driven running events in Amsterdam. New routes this year, more music along the way. More info at bijlmerrun.nl
Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 May | Bijlmer Parktheater
A theatre and music production about women's stories, with a full programme around it: a book market, a Nani-café, a workshop on female leadership, and Hindostaans-Surinamese snacks before the show. The kind of evening that doesn't fit neatly into one category. More info at bijlmerparktheater.nl
Thursday 14 & Friday 15 May | Bijlmer Parktheater Kaseko is the sound that came out of Suriname and never really left. Clifton Braam brings it live to the Bijlmer Parktheater — danceable, layered, and completely its own thing. More info at bijlmerparktheater.nl
